Kathy's Holiday Home Tour - Living Room Decorated for Christmas

Kathy's Holiday Home Tour

Comfortable, warm and cozy are terms that describe my home, especially when it is decorated for the holidays. In this blog, I want to give you a little tour of my home decorated for the Christmas holiday.

Kathy's Home Decorate for Christmas

The colors in my home are vintage shades of coral, rusty red, earth tones, teal, golds and tiffany blue. At Christmas I chose to use bright bold red and it worked beautifully.

Hutch decorate with Christmas Dishes and McKenzie Child

Decorative Christmas Dishes

I have a big collection of MacKenzie Childs black and white pattern that I like to leave out during Christmas to pair with my Christmas Dishes. Switching my dining area hutch to holiday is one of my favorite traditions. Fitz and Floyd's dinnerware and serving pieces are treasures that I love to display.

Christmas in the Kitchen - Santa Mugs and PoinsettiasChristmas Card Display on Pantry Doors

It does not matter how beautiful your dining table is, or how comfortable your living room couch is, people will always gather in the kitchen. That is why you must add some decor in the kitchen, even if it is as simple as some poinsettias or santa mugs. I love getting everyone's Christmas cards, and I especially love displaying them with these wire Christmas Trees hung on my pantry doors.

Flat 72" Christmas Trees

In the living room, to keep from moving furniture, I use two flat 72" trees nestled against the windows. Special ornaments like antique crocheted snowflakes from a great great aunt mix well with new and old collected ornaments. Red glass mercury balls fit perfectly with the eclectic mix of family favorites.

Book Case Decorate with Christmas Paintings and Santa Figurines

Kurt Adler and Possible Dreams Santa Figurines nestled in a book case

I collect Mr & Mrs Santa Claus from Possible Dreams and Kurt Adler. The pair come out every year with an occasional addition to spend the holiday in the bookcase. They dance, eat ice cream, skate and kiss under the mistletoe. A key to easy decorating is having storage that is accessible, for example, the dishes and the Christmas figurines live in the cabinets and switch out with everyday accessories. Santa prints and reproduction paintings go on the walls in place of everyday art for added fun.

Soft Kid Friendly Nativity Scene

The reason for the season, the birth of Jesus can be seen in many nativities scattered around the house. Kid friendly versions are good so you can share the story. My mom and sister-in-law cross stitched the holiday inspired works of art seen on the wall.

Christmas Grinch Pillow

Simple Girl's Room Christmas Decor

Girl's Bathroom Christmas Decor

There is always a grinch in every family... but they just have to overcome it with the Jolly Ho Ho Ho! Holiday Pillows complete the seasonal touches on benches, beds, couches and chairs. I always put touches of Christmas in the bedrooms and bathrooms, but I keep it fairly simple by adding a holiday pillow or santa figurine to make the entire home feel festive.

Monogramed Santa Bags for presents for grandkids

I have seven grandkids, and I stole this idea from a friend, monogramed Christmas Bags for each kids, so "Santa Grana" can stuff them full of presents without wrapping. They love it. This year's theme was snow skiing accessories. A theme keeps me on track!

White Upside Down Christmas Tree

My game room was a chance to be a little crazy with an upside down tree in the corner (again this took up less room than an actual tree). Multi-colored balls, orange and red plaid ribbon and extra large vinyl clear red poinsettias with glitter green leaves decorate the tree. Turquoise spiral sprays adds a playful touch to the all-white tree. Llamas were/are trending, so of course I needed a festive llama pillow for the couch.

I hope you enjoyed this quick little tour of my home. My biggest tip for all you decorators out there is to let your imagination and personality shine through. And do not forget, the Miss Cayce's team is always glad to help in the process of decorating by providing great product and easy tips.

Happy Decorating,

Kathy

Kathy, One can’t view your home just once. One has to see it again and again to see all of your amazing Christmas pieces and how you used them. Thank you again for sharing your “Beautiful” home and your Christmas.

Kathy, Thank you for sharing your home at Christmas. What a joy it was getting to see how you decorate your home. It truly is amazing that your home reflects what you do each day through the Holiday Season. It is shown your love of what you do and how that is taken into your home. You truly have a love for decorating. It is incredible to see that your days are so full but you make sure your home is decorated for you and your family. One might just say I am to busy to decorate. That isn’t you. You are to be admired for this.
