An Egg-stra Special Easter Table

An Egg-stra Special Easter Table !

Are you planning a luncheon, family dinner or Easter feast? A great looking table will complement your wonderful food!

I love to use and reuse bases from other projects and get double or even triple duty out of my investment. That is why I love working with artificial florals, garlands and greenery. They don’t die and have to be thrown away! I also like to use garlands down the middle of a table to decorate seasonally. This is perfect complement to serving buffet style, a sit down meal or a fun dessert display! Here are the supplies that I started with……(I did make a quick run to #Walmart to pick up new plastic Easter eggs and grass, so many colors and fun patterns)

Turquoise Table cloth (last Spring #Walmart) and Black and White Chevron table runner (birthday gift)

Hand wrapped and wired Easter Egg garland

Bright Easter Egg Garland 5′
9′ Garland Sky blue

The 9′ garland in Sky blue (from Rebecca’s Christmas decorations) was the base to attach all the fun Easter too. I started by fluffing and shaping it out and placing it down the middle of the table, allowing it to hang over the ends. The Easter egg garland is a great hand wrapped wired garland, easy to shape out and attach to the blue garland by twisting the greenery over in several places. (no hot glue gun needed). The 5′ Easter garland was centered in the middle of the 9′ blue garland. After a quick trip to Walmart for new plastic Easter eggs and grass After securing the two garlands together it was time to add a focal point, Rebecca’s Easter bunny and a yellow basket. I used the garland greenery and Easter garland to wire on the bunny and basket.

Now it’s time to fill the basket with an assortment of plastic Easter eggs, different sizes, colors and patterns. I also tucked in a few eggs to the garland.

Green Easter grass is an inexpensive addition to the garland and I chose orange for the basket.

One of our “newest” designers has been a quick study of all things Show Me Decorating!

Remember the Show Me Decorating steps:

1.Pick a theme: Holiday (Christmas, Easter, Madigras) or Celebration (Graduation, baby shower, wedding)

2.Choose a color story, this allows you to narrow your choices and focus

3.Gather your materials, look around your house and repurpose everyday items (all red dishes for Valentines day, pastel containers or baskets for Easter)

4. Pick a focal spot, an area where everyone will enjoy (top of a buffet, shelf in a bookcase, fireplace mantel, entry table)

5. Create a welcome doorway and offer a great 1st impression

Show Me Back to School

UGH!

It’s August and back to school is everywhere even though I’m trying to hold onto summer.  I really, really love summer!  The lazy days, time by the pool, hanging out at the lake, sleeping in…it’s way better than when school starts and my number one job is bus driver to our four boys to football, youth group, school, games, orchestra. (Especially, since the day starts out so early.)

I do love one thing about back to school and it’s all the new stuff. Sharp pencils, fresh crayons, brand new watercolors, and a blank spiral ready to be written in just give me goose bumps.  To help get me motivated and get the boys excited about a new year, I love to change out my candle jars with lots of fun stuff. They’ve outgrown needing some things so it’s great to put them to use in a new way. If you don’t  own candle jars, any clear vase, jar or container can work too!

Empty Candle Jars just waiting to be Show Me'd

Gathered Back to School necessities

I used a ruler, flash cards, pencils, crayons, and markers to fill the candle jars. They provided different heights and lots of colors. The great thing was I had most things filling up a drawer and the other’s were extra supplies from Target.  So, I cleaned up too!

Now time for some bows

I used tulle ribbon and two different cute stripes/prints that I got at JoAnn’s Fabrics and Hobby Lobby. The tulle was a great base and by using several different ones each of my candle jars was unique but all went together.

Tip: If you need to know how to tie a bow, check out our app in the App Store!

Ready for School!

Well, at least there is still 16 days until school starts!

What do you all think of back to school? Do you have favorite traditions?

Happy Decorating,

Jennifer
