Kathy uses the Black and White tray, burlap runner, a glass and iron bowl filled with wooden fruit and decorative salt and pepper shakers for her everyday decor.

When decorating seasonally edit the everyday decor and include some items in the holiday decorating. In this case the burlap runner, and tray get to stay.

Take a look at your everyday decor and edit. On this mantel we removed the candle sticks, bowl, frame, tray and glass candle holder. The rooster and potted topiary stayed to be part of the fall decorating.

Now it is time to select the fall decorating items. A green garland traditionally used at Christmas is a great base to start with. Wired fall garlands can be layered and wired in, no glue needed. We call it making the garlands one!

Now it is time to put the garland on the mantel.

Show Me Tip: Measure your mantel to determine how many garlands you will need for your Fall DIY. Green garlands and some novelty garlands are 9′ long.  Next decide how you will attach the garlands to the mantel if it is not wide enough for the garlands to lay on top. You can use nails, tea-cup hooks, wire and even C-clamps.

We used 1 of each garland for this decorating Fall project.

Celebrate the season  and decorate key areas in your home for family and friends to enjoy. Choose quality ingredients, wired garlands and florals, Wired ribbon, and focal points to make a statement. Personalizing an item with the family name or initial adds a personal touch. Edit everyday decor leaving complimentary items that coordinate with your seasonal decorating.

Mixing orange glitter mesh and burlap mesh adds a great fall texture and color to this doorway. A quality 9′ faux green garland is a great base to layer on your fall decorations. (reuse with a Christmas theme) Attach screws into brick mortar or wood framing and leave in so you are always ready to create a grand entranceway!

Show Me Decorating is Thankful for Fall and Gorgeous Colors

It’s finally Fall and we are so Thankful for cooler weather, warmer colors, and the changes of the season.

At Show Me Decorating, we are thankful for our family, friends, members of our decorating teams, and you who allow us to share a little of what we love to do!

We have been busy decorating for Halloween, Thanksgiving, and getting ready for Christmas. Changing out for each of the seasons could be overwhelming but, we’ve come up with an easy system and by using great product to stretch a few of our favorites for all three holidays.

Let me show you:

Transition from Halloween to Fall

We started with Eye See Halloween in turquoise, lime green, and purple on a prelit Artic garland, then for fall we took off the Halloween and added in a pumpkin garland and a crabapple berry garland(we’ll leave it for Christmas). We tied half bows, you can too with our new How to Tie a Bow app www.bowapp.showmedecorating.com Three great ribbons and add in gold matte balls and glitter leaves.

The look is completed with a turkey banner by one of our favorite artists

www.lisafroststudio.com

Now, we’re ready to welcome our guests for Thanksgiving!

Bountiful Fall

Decorating doesn’t have to stop there. We continued the look on the mantle and used the same ingredients. The garland was gorgeous with the pumpkin garland but we couldn’t stop there so we added in ribbon, balls, and glitter leaves. It really is easy when you follow the Show Me Decorating steps from our “Recipe for Holiday Decorating” app. www.app.showmedecorating.com

In San Antonio, we’re blessed that San Antonio Living WOAI allows us to decorate the set for Halloween, Fall, and Christmas. You can watch to see how we transform the set from Thanksgiving to Christmas on December 1 at www.woai.com/entertainment/default.aspx

Happy Decorating,

Jennifer
