Christmas Themes and Decor for Every Home

Each home has a personality reflected in its furnishings, and holiday decorations should compliment the room.

There are many themes to choose from to create a Christmas wonderland in your home. Through out this blog, notice that although each of these homes have different themes, they all use the same key ingredients, balls, ribbon and florals.

Red velvet mixed with animal print ribbon and the gold multi stripe looks great with the rustic mounts and slightly tropical theme for a playful twist. Feathers, ferns and horns project from the tree around multi-colored balls and red berries. 

The homeowner was once a Washington insider and had patriotic memorabilia and cherished ornaments that we loaded on a mixed green garland with felt holly. The whimsical red, white and blue ribbon is perfect with polka dots and plaids. Soft shades like denim blue and burlap textures worked well in this sitting area. 

The family room tree and treasured collection of ornaments is warm and classic with its mostly red and gold base of ribbon, balls and floral. Gold glitter leaves and a lively green ribbon continue the homes coordinated but unique looks mixed with red velvet poinsettia sprays and ribbon.

The home's formal yet comfortable living room has a garland intertwined with spikey glittered greenery, shiny gold balls, ribbon and berries on the fireplace. This garland although fairly simple, lights up the room. TIP: C-clamps were used on the corners and the middle of the mantle to attach the garland without nailing into its painted finish. 

Across the room a similar garland is used to enhance a country french hutch and show case a beautiful nativity and very special hand-painted balls.

Merry and bright describes these whimsical, colorful and fun decorations. The rooms neutral background it perfect for this playfully sophisticated look. Pink and turquoise pack a punch when mixed with red, gold and lime green. Lots of ribbon, balls and floral make it happen on the mantle, book case and tree. The texture and patterns in the ornaments and ribbon are all perfect for the happiest of holidays. 

Gorgeous homes should have a gorgeous Christmas tree, decorated with as much thought as the design of a room. Layering the tree with a base of ribbon, balls and floral provide the color and background to showcase the family's treasured ornaments. The ribbon selection was carefully chosen to compliment the soothing color scheme of the room's upholstery. Soft gold and pewter glass balls are used along with fabulous faux burlap poinsettias and a wine colored berry garland. The antique tree is a family heirloom, so it is fitting to display it under a glass cover on the table.

The holidays are definitely happy in this home with the bright traditional mix of red and green. Black and white adds an unexpected but welcome addition in the ribbon, balls and fabric tree skirt and pillows. TIP: Black and white can be added to almost any color combo for a unique twist. In your China cabinet, it is fun and festive to change out the everyday dishes and showcase the Christmas patterns. 

Girl's and boy's bedroom decorations can and should reflect the child's taste and interest. Fulfill the theme desired by using a colored tree like the rose gold in the girl's room and the silver for the boy's.
