This is Laura Johnson. She’s an artist and CEO. {A very unusual combination?} She’s been creating things her entire life and loved it so much that she studied it in college and made it her career.

With the help of her family, she started a business and named it Coton Colors. She combined her knack for entertaining with a lifelong love of designing handmade products inspired by her own life celebrations. Her business took off. Demand was so high; it was almost impossible to keep up. 

Today, she leads an amazing team of creatives, many of which are still family. They design and create thousands of products and handle every step it takes to bring them to market – from designing each detail and working with the artisans who now make them, to partnering with customers who sell them. As always, her motto “never miss an opportunity to celebrate every day” is what guides all they do. Fortunately, the demand continues, it’s grown and grown into a national and international brand.

Founding Artist and CEO Laura Johnson’s motto, “never miss an opportunity to celebrate every day,” and the products inspired by that phrase have helped Coton Colors grow into a national and international lifestyle brand in the giftware and home décor industries. The brand Coton Colors is recognized and adored by many for encouraging an always-celebratory lifestyle.

From its inception, Coton Colors relies on Laura’s family ties to make it a successful endeavor. With a husband supporting the artist’s dreams and high-intensity lifestyle, her parents and siblings swooping in to help fulfill countless orders and balance chaos of an early business, Laura credits the success of Coton Colors to the family foundation which still exists today.

Now, her daughter Kyle sits at the design helm, working alongside Laura to create designs that provide inspiration for every occasion. Laura’s middle daughter Sara Kate works beside her as a collaborator in fashioning and capturing fresh designs through photography with a successful mix of talent and trend. They work alongside two of Laura’s nieces who have stepped into their careers in helping Coton Colors grow. Laura’s mother and sister operate the two flagship stores, while her father remains the company’s CFO.
