Becky's Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour

Becky's Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour

I would describe my house, especially during Christmas, as Bright and Fun, and in this blog I want to take you on my Merry and Bright Holiday Home Tour.

Becky's Merry and Bright Christmas Home Tour

Welcome to my living room. I have a small living room with tall ceilings, so the best size tree for me is a 9 foot slim. The height is proportionate to the room and cabinets, but the smaller circumference fits nicely with my furniture.

Kathy gave me the Santa painting hanging above the bookcase. I have another painting placed there the rest of the year, but for Christmas, I slide it under a bed and hang the Traditional Santa in his red suit. I used plastic Christmas trees to frame the painting.

Merry and Bright Family Room Christmas Tree

I love to decorate my tree. I use the 3 key ingredients, ribbon, balls and florals. My bows are placed in a diamond pattern, and next I used a matte gold ball tucked into the tree as the base to create a background to show off my ornament collection. I then placed the florals to coordinate with my Red, Green, Pink and Gold color story. My favorite balls are the black and white glitter because they really pop on my tree.

Joy, Hope and Merry Christmas Ornaments

A good tip to remember is to buy in 3s. The Joy, Merry and Hope Ornaments came in 3s, so I hung them together to show them off. These ornaments seemed to describe my Merry and Bright theme perfectly.

Christmas Village Piece

Every year, I love to switch up the decor for my sofa table. This year I decided to use a Christmas Village. The village adds a whimsical touch to the room, plus all of the grandkids love to look at characters and setup. TIP: Village houses that have a hole for a light bulb are great to use as night lights in a bedroom or bathroom.

Christmas in the Cabinets

My bookcase is filled with all things Santa, figurines, paintings, ornaments and more. I remove my everyday decorations and store in the cabinets below where the Santas have been patiently waiting all year. The true reason for the season was the focal point of my bookcase, framed with two simple wreaths. I love this abstract metal Nativity Scene.

Family Heirloom Compote Glass Bowl

It would not be Christmas without putting out my special family decor pieces. This antique glass compote belonged to my grandmother, I fill it with the vintage ornaments from her tree. The little Santa painting to the left was a gift from my sister in law.

Christopher Radko Santa Ornament

Ornaments are not just for your tree. You can display them almost anywhere in your home, especially if they have a flat bottom like this Santa. This ornament is a beautiful Christopher Radko piece that I just had to display in my cabinets along side my other favorite Santas.

Festive Holiday PillowsFestive Holiday PillowFestive Holiday Cup Towels

Festive holiday pillows and cup towels are easy seasonal decor pieces. I think my collection grows every year because there are so many cute and fun ones like the "he sees you when you're eating" cup towel.

Mantle Christmas Decor Stockings Hung on the Mantle

The Merry and bright continues in the Den. Although the mantle is narrow, there was still plenty of room to hang a decorated garland, surrounded by metal Santas and Christmas trees. Next to the mantle, all of the kid's and grandkid's stockings hang easy for Santa to find and stuff with presents.

Kitchen Bar decorated for Christmas

My colorful collection of Christmas decor makes me smile when I stand and wash the dishes. I love to frame the kid's pictures with Santa and display every year.

Kitchen Cabinets Decorated for Christmas

This whimsical bow is the perfect edition to my kitchen cabinets. I store it flattened in a tub and because the ribbon is wired, it fluffs out perfectly year to year. Just a few simple decor items on the counter top complete the look.

Christmas Card Display

Heading into the formal dining room, I like to decorate the two side tables that frame the door to the kitchen. There are always so many Christmas Cards from family and friends, so I use this wire stand to display them for everyone to see.

Christmas Dining Room Decor

White and Gold Glass Nativity Scene

My dining room is definitely Merry and Bright. I decided to play off of the beautiful colors shown in the water color painting on the wall. One of my favorite parts was this new glass, gold and white Nativity Scene. I used a few bottle brush trees and black and gold ornaments to decorate the rest of the table.

Anthropologie and Coton Colors Christmas Plates

My daughter gifted me a set of Christmas Dinnerware from Anthropologie. I always switch out my dinnerware to fit the season, and these looked so cute on top of my black and white Coton Colors plates.

Kid's Bedroom Christmas Tree

Last but not least, the grandkids helped me decorate an elf themed Christmas Tree in their room. We used Red, Lime Green and a hint of Turquoise and Hot Pink. The best part is the Elf leg picks that stick out of the tree.

I hope you enjoyed my Holiday Home Tour, and maybe you are inspired to incorporate some Merry and Bright decor in your home this Christmas!

Happy decorating,

Becky
